Institute QuantiVision has originated from a ZONmw initiative, called Innovative Medical Devices Initiative, to establish regional Centres of Research Excellence, where healthcare, business and science collaborate on the development of new medical devices that enable future health care at high standards, in an aging population with decreasing numbers of working forces.

Traditionally, clinical research focuses on subjective evaluation of the physiological meaning of the shades of gray constituting an image. Quantitative analysis of combined multi modal images provides a more objective basis for clinical decision-making.
